The answer is YES.
Let’s begin with a few basics. Which modern day countries does the Bible mention going to war with Israel in the future and what are their Biblical names?
Let’s start with Iran.
Iran was named in 1935 by the Shah or ruler of the nation to re-establish its ancient roots as the “land of the Aryans” instead of the ancient empire name the Greeks gave the area based on the southern region of Parsa. The even more ancient name of Elam refers to the southern half of the modern nation.
In Ezekiel chapter 38, God outlines to Ezekiel a future alliance of nations which will come against God’s people.
Persia is listed as one of the key players, along with:

- Magog: Often identified as Russia and the Central Asian “–stan” countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan).
- Rosh: Frequently interpreted as modern-day Russia.
- Meshech and Tubal: Generally identified as territories in modern-day Turkey.
- Persia: Modern-day Iran.
- Cush/Ethiopia: The region south of Egypt, identifying modern Sudan and Ethiopia.
- Put/Libya: Modern-day Libya.
- Gomer: Often associated with regions in modern Turkey or possibly Germany.
- Beth-Togarmah: Identified as parts of modern Turkey and Armenia.

One glance at the players on this list reads like today’s war.
But an interesting note is the alliance that speaks out against this group who intends to plunder. The Bible mentions a merchant/economic alliance between Sheba, Dedan, Tarshish and all his young lions.
Sheba and Dedan refers to the Arab nations on the Saudi peninsula including: Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, etc. Tarshish and all his young lions is generally believed to refer to Spain, England and their colonies (United States, etc). Today, we are seeing an economic alliance arise between the Arab nations, Israel and the U.S called the Abraham Accords.
Few remember that Abraham had a wife after Sarah died. That union produced several sons including: Sheba and Dedan!
In the last few weeks, we are seeing Arab nations attacked by Iran and not having it. For the first time, they are considering the value of an “economic” alliance with prosperous Israel.
In Ezekiel 37, we see the “dry bones” which we now understand to be a reference to the Holocaust. In the next few verses, God describes that though Israel sinned by following other gods, He will bring the dry bones back to life and reunite the two halves of His people: Judah and Israel into one nation again. He will bring back the Israeli people from all over the world. This began to be fulfilled beginning in 1948. Now, step into Ezekiel 38 and we begin to see the alliance of Gog vs Israel (with Sheba, Dedan, Tarshish & young lions speaking up).
We do not need to fear these wars. Yes, there is a cost in standing with God and His people, but read Ezekiel 39… God has not come to play. Those who align with Gog’s list of nations will be massacred.
Watch and pray. Be ready to stand with the Lord & Israel both in season and out of season… when it is popular and when it is not.
