Faith, like your heart, is something you know is there, but you may not pay much attention too.  You know your heart is important. You need it everyday, but many times you take it for granted until it skips a beat or stops working all together.    Hebrews 11:1 says,

Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.”

Even though you don’t see your heart, you feel it’s work and you know it’s important to life.  So faith is a reality in the life of a believer and we must walk in it because God has given us faith through Christ and it’s essential to being a Christian.  We have faith in God and the reality of the Kingdom of heaven because God exists and he is the source of our faith.   Faith does not make what is unseen a reality.  What is unseen makes faith a reality.  What is hoped for, what is unseen  (God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, heaven, eternal life, peace with God etc.) is the reality that our faith comes from.  Just because these things are unseen, doesn’t mean they don’t exist.  The writer of Heberws reminds us,

“By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not visible.”  Hebrews 11:3

There is a God who created the universe.  He made everything that we see out of what we do not see.  And faith starts with the reality that God is who he says he is and we can believe that he exists and we can know him when we seek to find him.     Hebrews 11:6 says,

“Now without faith it is impossible to please God, since the one who draws near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”

The amazing truth of Christianity is, there is a God who made you and knows who you are.   He knows exactly what you need.  He has a plan and purpose for you and that is fully activated in your life when you surrender your life to him and follow him on a daily basis.  This surrender allows God to work out his perfect plan in you step by step, day by day.   Once He has taken residence in your heart, be begins working in you through faith to show you his plan and love.  And you grow in your faith because you see God working in your life when you trust him in faith.
